Khabarovsk is administrative industrial scientific and cultural centre of the Far-Eastern region. It is the capital of Far-Eastern Federal district. Khabarovsk was founded in 1858 as military point and was named after Russian explorer Erofey Khabarov.

On November 3, 2012 Khabarovsk was awarded the honorary title of "City of Military Glory".

Khabarovsk has the territory of 386 sq. km. The population of the city is 601 043 people.

Khabarovsk is located in the centre of the airways and railway transport roads on the right bank of the Amur River and the Amur Channel nearby the Chinese border.

There are two airports, railroad passenger terminal, four railway stations, and river port inside the city.

Among the main Khabarovsk sights there is one of the longest bridges over the Amur river, the Lenina square, the unique architectural complex; the regional  park named after Muraviev-Amurskiy, Central Park “Dynamo”, The Grodekov Museum, The Khabarovsk History Museum,Spaso-Preobazhensky Cathedral, Uspensky Cathedral on Komsomolskaya Square.

There are several sport stadiums in the city. Khabarovsk is home for professional football team, bandy team and ice-hockey team.
